Adriana De Alba joined the 13News Now team as a reporter in June 2018.
She was born in Los Angeles, California and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. She’s bilingual, with the ability to speak both English and Spanish fluently.
De Alba's reporting has earned her national recognition. She has earned multiple awards from the Society of Professional Journalists and was a national champion in the Hearst Journalism Awards Program.
Her interest in journalism began early in her childhood. As her parents relied on the evening news for information, she quickly learned the importance of journalism.
Prior to making her way to the east coast, De Alba was a reporter in the southwest, where she served as a borderlands reporter for Arizona PBS. De Alba focused on informing the public on issues such as immigration, education, and the economy.
De Alba was also a reporter for KASW, the CW affiliate in Phoenix, Arizona. In 2017, De Alba joined the international department at CBS News in New York City. There, she worked at the foreign desk, tracking breaking news events across the globe for the CBS Evening News.
She is the Executive Producer of the Emmy-award winning documentary Let Them Bee, a film that aimed to raise awareness about the declining honeybee population in America.
De Alba graduated from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. There, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism and a Master’s degree in Mass Communication. She graduated summa cum laude and was the convocation speaker of her graduating class.
De Alba enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
She’s thrilled to be a part of the wonderful 13News Now team and hopes to make a difference in the Hampton Roads community.
