Amanda Johncola is a digital content producer for 13News Now. She joined the team in September 2018.

Amanda was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She had always loved reading and writing, but she took a liking to photography in high school while her love for journalism started in college.

She had many interests growing up, toying with the idea of being a lawyer, then later she wanted to act. She also thought she wanted to be a psychologist, but after enrolling at La Salle University as a Communication major, her love for writing grew into a love for journalism.

Amanda graduated from La Salle University in 2017 with a B.A. in Communication with focuses on Journalism, Mass Media and Public Relations and a concentration in Psychology. Her favorite experiences in college come from time spent in the theater as a member of The Masque of La Salle University and from time with her Gamma Phi Beta sorority sisters.

Throughout college, Amanda worked in the High School Sports Department, otherwise known as 'Rally.' She also worked at The Philadelphia Inquirer and interned at NBC10 Philadelphia (WCAU) with their web team before becoming a production assistant at the station. She also participated in The Clyde Hirt Journalism Workshop twice and now returns regularly as an advisor.

Amanda continues to learn and develop her skills as a digital content producer with the digital team. She enjoys getting involved in the community and writing about stories that are important on a local level as well as stories that raise awareness for different causes.

In her free time, Amanda hangs out at home with her roommates, their sheltie-mini Aussie mix Macy, and their bunny Margeaux. She also still enjoys reading, binge-watching shows on Netflix and Hulu, cooking, baking and trying new foods. Currently, her favorite show is Grey’s Anatomy.

Amanda is a member of Gamma Phi Beta, Lambda Pi Eta, and the United States Harness Writers’ Association.
