Samuel Schaffer joined the 13News Now team in June of 2021 as a digital content producer.
He writes general and breaking news stories for 13NewsNow.com, but his preferred topics to cover are politics, community and outdoor/adventure.
Samuel came to Norfolk fresh from the University of Florida, where he wrote stories for The Independent Florida Alligator and the Gainesville NPR affiliate, WUFT. His favorite story was about a DIY skate park that was torn down.
He previously attended Valencia College's East Campus in Orlando, where he worked his way up to Editor-in-Chief of the Valencia Voice and helped budding writers hone their skills.
Samuel is a Florida boy -- he grew up spending time in the woods, canoeing and swimming in springs, body surfing at the beach and skating around town. Nowadays, climbing is a big part of his life, and when he’s not at work, he can typically be found at the local climbing gym or training for his next outdoor adventure.
On any given evening, there's a chance you'll see him being towed around Ocean View on his skateboard by his dog, Milkshake.
