Historic Garden Week returns to Hampton

Tickets are $30 in advance, $40 day of tour. Tours go on until April 28.

HAMPTON, Va. (WVEC) -- Wednesday marks the beginnings of "Hampton: At Water's Edge," the Hampton-Newport News Historic Garden Week Tour.

This year's tour features five Hampton waterfront homes, including:

  • On Hampton River and the grounds of historic Hampton University, Dr.and Mrs.William R. Harvey’s residence, the 1828 Mansion House. Hampton University celebrates its 150th anniversary this year, as well 40 years of Dr. Harvey’s leadership
  • On Sunset Creek, an 1898 three-story clapboard house and a beautifully reconstructed 2012 Colonial Revival house, in the Victoria Blvd. Historic District
  • On the Hampton Roads overlooking the Monitor-Merrimac ironclad battle site, a 1916 American Foursquare house and a completely redone 1918 former cottage, in the Olde Wythe Historic District

Hampton University Museum, the Hampton University Memorial Church, the Emancipation Oak and the Charles H. Taylor Art Center are also on tour.

Tickets are $30 in advance, $40 day of tour. Tours go on until April 28.
