Take the plunge! Virginia Beach Polar Plunge 2020 raises money for Special Olympics

Over 3,000 people are expected to take an icy dip into the frigid Atlantic Ocean for a good cause!

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Virginia Beach Polar Plunge 2020 is right around the corner! However, The Plunge has grown into so much more than just a chilly dip into the Atlantic. 

The VA Beach Polar Plunge Festival kicks off Saturday, February 8 with the SunTrust Dash & Splash Challenge, a costume contest and parade down the boardwalk, the Plunge Marketplace featuring local artisans, frosty beverages, live music, free Wawa hot chocolate and coffee, and an icy dip into the frigid Atlantic Ocean with 3,000 of your closest friends.

There's also a plunge that Friday for school faculty and students. On Friday, Feb. 7 starting at 12:15 p.m., students and teachers will also run into the chilly waters during the Cool School Challenge. All the schools have fundraised for the event, including Plaza Middle School, which raised the highest amount -- $10,000.

The event benefits the Special Olympics Virginia. It's $100 to take the Plunge ‒ and it’s all for a great cause!
