Imagine an app that would allow you to reserve an Uber or Lyft ride - days or minutes in advance. Well, a local company has cashed in on that missing feature of the ride-sharing companies.

Richmond native Matt Donlon launched the app, named "UZURV," in April and, so far, it has taken off. It is already operating in 44 cities.

"UZURV" fills a major gap for Uber and Lyft.

"We are like the open tables to restaurants, we are to on-demand drivers," said Donlon.

Hundreds of people are reserving their rides ahead of time.

Here's how it works:

  1. Download the Uber or Lyft app
  2. Download the UZURV app
  3. Log in and pick your favorite drivers, tap 'filter,' and start customizing
  4. Users have the option to save their driver and request them later

Donlon says Hampton Roads has 150 drivers and many of them have base access, which is a huge deal for our area.

Governor McAuliffe's chief of staff said in a statement, "This is the kind of company that fits within the Virginia economy's initiative to compete with Silicon Valley."
