VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- An Ocean Lakes High School senior earned a perfect ACT score.

Nathan Luksik earned the highest possible score of 36 on the college admissions test.

A perfect score is a feat that only less than one-tenth of 1 percent of those who take the test in the whole nation earn, according to ACT.

The ACT is a college admission test that assess a student's English, mathematics, reading, and science skills. It is the leading test for four-year colleges and universities.

The test is broken into four sections, each section is scored on a scale from 1-36, and the student's final composite score is the average of all four scores.

Luksik is currently enrolled in the Mathematics and Science Academy at Ocean Lakes High School. He plans double major in computer engineering and economics with a concentration in finance at one of the many colleges he has applied to, including Duke, University of Berkley, University of Pennsylvania, Harvard, Yale, UVA, and Princeton.

"We're extremely proud of Nathan on this exceptional achievement," said Virginia Beach Public Schools Superintendent Aaron Spence. "We, as a division, hold the highest academic expectations for all of our students."

Luksik isn't the first VBCPS student to earn a perfect ACT score. In 2015 two other students earned the score, Nicolette Pember and Angela Tang-Tan.
