FRIDAY FLAVOR: Business is popping at Uncle Dave's Kettle Korn

Located at a kiosk inside the Williamsburg Premium Outlets, Uncle Dave's Kettle Korn serves up the sweet and salty treat in dozens of flavors.

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — It's the sweet and salty treat that has people going out of their way to just grab a bite.

We are talking about kettle corn, served up fresh six days a week at Uncle Dave's Kettle Korn kiosk at the Williamsburg Premium Outlets.

"When you see a smile on their face and they line up to get it, it's unbelievable," said owner David Tuftee.

Tuftee said he came up with the idea to start a stand selling kettle corn, after he started making the treat for his kids.

"I just wanted to start making kettle corn for kids at home, something healthy, and I prayed about it and Lord opened the doors and it all got started," Tuftee explained.

Fast forward a few years, and his business is booming. He now serves up kettle corn in dozens of flavors, fit for every taste bud.

"We added cheese and caramel, and then we just started expanding, experimenting with all kinds of flavors, we threw in some hot stuff for people who like Cajun or jalapeno," he said.

Along with the original Williamsburg location, there are now several others that have been franchised out. Tuftee even sells his kettle corn online and ships nationwide.

Through it all, Tuftee also stayed true to his beliefs. His business is not open on Sundays, as he said it's time for his family and his employees to go to Church.

"We've been so blessed, and the Lord said if you have been blessed, then you need to bless others, and we bless people in the whole process," said Tuftee.

Each month his employees also pick a different organization to donate part of the kiosk's earnings.
