Chicks hatching at Virginia Beach's Great Neck Area Library

It's part of the city's 4-H embryology project and you can visit the baby chickens at the library through Friday.

If you stop by Virginia Beach's Great Neck Area Library for the next couple of days, be sure to check something out besides a library book: newly hatched baby chicks!

It's part of the city's 4-H embryology project. The eggs are kept in an incubator at the library for about 21 days allowing visitors to follow along with the chickens' stages of growth. After hatching, the chicks will stay at the library for a few more days so children and anyone else can see them.

The chicks will be returned to the Virginia Beach 4-H on Friday.

This is the third year the Virginia Beach Public Library system has hosted eggs. Each year, the eggs are incubated at a different branch.

The 4-H embryology project is available to schools and any educational organization.
