VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Bam Bam the puppy finished his parvo medication, and he shows no more signs of the virus, according to the Hope For Life Rescue, Inc. in Virginia Beach.

The pup was safely returned to the shelter, back with his siblings.

When Bam Bam was taken, he was one of many other dogs in an isolation room that were diagnosed with the highly contagious virus.

Parvo causes an infectious gastrointestinal illness in puppies and young dogs, and without treatment, it is potentially deadly, according to the American Kennel Club website

On Friday, the shelter released a statement from his new adoptive family on Facebook saying the pup isn't showing any more signs or parvo.

"He is sleeping well at night, loves to do zoomies, tries to bring sticks and leaves in from outside, and plays with all his toys. Thank you so much for this boy! He’s brought so much joy to us already," the Facebook post said.
