We’ve got a treat or two for you in today’s edition of Bentley’s corner!

Cookies or treats for your four-legged friends can get expensive, and you don’t always know what’s in them.

Most of us buy dog and pet treats at the store, but do you know what’s in them? We’ve got an alternative, though, if you want to make something at home that you know the ingredients.

Here’s what you’ll need,

  • 2 cups of whole wheat flour
  • A couple tablespoons of plain whole milk yogurt
  • 2 4-oz. jars of baby food

That’s right, just three ingredients.

First in goes the baby food, to a large mixing bowl. Remember, two 4-ounce jars are all you need. Then put in a couple of tablespoons of the plain yogurt, and mix both of those wet ingredients together using a spoon.

Now for the dry ingredients: 2 cups of whole wheat flour, mixed thoroughly together with the baby food and yogurt. You can use your hands to mix until the consistency is of a big ball of dough.

Now take the doughy ball and place it onto a piece of wax paper. Flatten it out and slice it into small pieces. One piece equals one dog treat and one batch should make plenty for one, two, three or more dogs!

Once cut up, place it on a cookie sheet and in the oven it goes, bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes.

Before you know it, you’ll have freshly-baked, home-made dog treats that your pup will love!

Chef secret: mix in a tablespoon of parsley to mask that wretched dog breath!
