NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- The Farm Fresh grocery store in the Kiln Creek neighborhood will soon be closing it's doors to customers.

Supervalu, the parent company of Farm Fresh, negotiated an early lease termination, settling on a Dec. 1 closing date.

We reached out to Supervalu's representatives who sent us this statement:

Farm Fresh continually reviews its business and operations and while we strive to ensure the success of all our stores, it is occasionally necessary for us to make decisions to not operate in a certain location. As part of a recent review, Supervalu negotiated an early lease termination at our Farm Fresh Kiln Creek location and will be closing its pharmacy by December 1 and the store to the public by the end of December.

We appreciate our loyal and dedicated store customers and invite them to shop our Newport News and Poquoson Farm Fresh stores, conveniently located within 6 miles from our Kiln Creek location.

All our stores play an important role in the community and we value the hard work of our Farm Fresh associates throughout the years. Their commitment to serving the needs of our customers is commendable and very much appreciated. We are optimistic that we can offer many of the impacted team members positions at other nearby Farm Fresh locations, and we hope all our associates will continue their employment with us.

There's no word yet on what will be replacing the storefront.

Several Aldi and Lidl stores have opened up in Newport News in recent months. One Aldi opened up on Jefferson Ave. and Ed Wright Lane. Another opened in the 11000 block of Jefferson Ave.
