NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Get your back-to-school shopping list ready. Virginia's tax-free holiday begins Friday, August 4.

From Friday August 4 through Sunday, August 6 you won't pay sales tax on certain school supplies, clothing, and shoes.

Any school supplies under $20 qualify. Clothes and shoes must cost less than $100 to qualify.

You can also get emergency preparedness items tax-free. That list includes portable generators and chainsaws.

Other states are having sales tax holidays this year, but North Carolina is not among them.
