NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- You have a chance to help name Virginia Zoo's newest giraffe calf!

Mother Imara gave birth to the 149-pound female calf the first week of June. The unnamed baby stands 5'11" tall and was able to walk just a few hours after being born.

The Zoo will be accepting names for the calf until Friday, June 23. You can submit your ideas here.

Zoo keepers will vote on submissions and a name will be announced on Wednesday, June 28.

Imara and baby can be viewed by Zoo visitors at the indoor giraffe exhibit. The pair will soon be given access to start exploring their outdoor exhibit and introduced to the two other Masai giraffes.
