WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WVEC) -- Busch Garden Williamsburg got approval from James City County's Board of Supervisors to expand its Ireland section with a new attraction.

On June 12, the Board approved for Busch Gardens to expand a portion of their park by approving a height limitation waiver. Busch Gardens requested to move their height limitation from 55 feet to 115 feet.

"Staff does not anticipate that the attraction will be visible from surrounding developments or roadways," a statement in the Busch Gardens proposal said.

The planned location of the new attraction is near the Griffon ride.

Permits for the construction of foundations and/or footings for the attraction need to be obtained within the next 36 months, or the Height Limitation Wavier will be voided.

Busch Garden's most recent attraction, Battle For Eire, opened in the Spring of 2018. The state-of-the-art virtual reality ride takes guests to another world.
