VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- Looking for a great volunteer opportunity for your teen this summer?

The Virginia Beach Public Library is looking for teens ages 14 to 17 to mentor beginner readers in their "Reading Buddies" summer program.

The teen volunteers will be paired one-on-one with young readers who are between kindergarten through 3rd grade during the four-week program, which is meant to encourage them and help foster a love of reading.

Training is provided.

The Library is also in need of Summer Reading Challenge volunteers to help with registration, provide program information, distribute prizes, prepare materials, and may also assist staff with programs for both on and off-site locations.

Interested teens can apply on Virginia Beach's website, and should apply by April 30.
