Arrest made in Norfolk shooting that left man in critical condition

Police have arrested the man they believe shot and critically injured another man on West Little Creek Road in Norfolk.

NORFOLK, Va. — Police are working to learn the motive behind an early-morning shooting in Norfolk that landed one man in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Officers were sent to the 700 block of West Little Creek Road around 4 a.m. Friday after hearing about a gunshot disturbance.

They arrived to find a man with a gunshot wound. Medics rushed him to a nearby hospital. Currently, the man is in critical, but stable condition.

Authorities arrested Joseph E. Riddick, 34, and charged him with aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm.

Riddick is being held in the Norfolk City Jail with no bond.

No other details have been released at this time.
