NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — A former bookkeeper was sentenced on Wednesday to over five years in prison for embezzling funds from a Newport News medical practice and getting a fake SBA-guaranteed loan using her father's identity.

According to court documents, 32-year-old Amanda Viglietta was employed as the bookkeeper for Advanced ENT & Allergy from April through December 2016. While she worked there, she forged her employer's signature on checks and made them out to herself, her boyfriend, and to other persons and businesses.

In an effort to cover up her tracks, Viglietta made fake entries in the QuickBooks records of Advanced ENT, and she created fake invoices.

Vigilietta also used credit/debit cards associated with Advanced ENT. Altogether, she used about $180,000 from Advanced ENT.

After getting fired from Advanced ENT in December 2016, Viglietta made a limited liability company called Mumbling Mikes, LLC. In February 2017, she applied and received a United States Small Business Administration (SBA) guaranteed loan from Celtic Bank, using her father's identity.

Viglietta had $148,400 in loan funds, and she used large portions of this approved business loan on personal expenditures and obtaining cashier’s checks.
