Man seriously hurt in shooting in northern Suffolk

Police said someone shot a man on Freeman Avenue, just off Hampton Roads Parkway in the northern part of city.

SUFFOLK, Va. — Suffolk police said they were investigating a shooting that left a man seriously hurt on Saturday night.

The call about the shooting came in around 11:50 p.m.

Police said someone shot the man in the 6200 block of Freeman Avenue. That's in the Huntersville area, just off Hampton Roads Parkway, in the northern part of Suffolk.

Someone took the man to the hospital in a personal vehicle. His injuries were serious enough that he was transferred to another hospital.

Detectives asked anyone with information to contact the Suffolk Police Department or Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. People also can submit tips online.
