NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Police were trying to find a crime scene Monday after a man was shot, and an elementary school was locked down.
Emergency Communications received a call about a shooting in the 900 block of 15th Street.
When officers got there, they found a 56-year-old man who had been shot. Medics took him to the hospital. Police expected him to survive.
Officers were trying to find the actual shooting location in the area.
Administrators at An Achievable Dream Academy on 16th Street put the school on modified lockdown because of the shooting.
Around 11:45 a.m., police said the lockdown had been lifted.
