Early morning house fire consumes Outer Banks home

A three-story home was engulfed in flames in Southern Shores, North Carolina.

SOUTHERN SHORES, N.C. — Several fire departments were called out to battle a blaze that broke out in an Outer Banks home early Friday morning.

According to the Southern Shores Volunteer Fire Department, crews were called out just before 4:30 a.m. to a residence on South Dogwood Trail.  Arriving firefighters found a three-story home fully engulfed in flames.

Much of the fire was knocked down within 10 minutes, as Southern Shores firefighters received assistance with units from Duck, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Colington, and Nags Head.

There is no word at this time on any injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
