Flu deaths in Virginia, North Carolina... and the season is not over

Hundreds have died because of the flu and pneumonia-related illnesses.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The Virginia Department of Health reported 773 deaths for people with pneumonia and flu-related symptoms, while North Carolina has reported 90 deaths so far for just the flu.

Dr. Aldo Dumlao at Patient First in Virginia Beach explained he's been really busy this year.

"We’re seeing a lot of flu [cases] mixed with respiratory/gastrointestinal illnesses... kind of a mixed bad of everything," said Dumlao.

Dumlao mentioned a person can feel fine one day, and then the flu symptoms can come all at once.

He said it's never too late to get the flu shot.
