VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Lucas Rogers knew it when he landed it.
The Pungo-based surfer was surfing in Panama while his buddy was filming the session from the shore.
While out on the water one day, Rogers landed one of the smoothest “airs” in the entire world--according to judges with international surf contest Planetary Punt.
“The landing was the biggest thing,” said Rogers. “It was such a smooth landing.”
The air is a trick a surfer does by launching off the lip of the wave.
Rogers’s air was good enough to become the contest winner, which also meant he won $20,000 cash.
“It was cool to find out I won and bring home a win like that,” said Rogers. “I was super thankful."
