Apartment residents in Hampton say AC units haven't worked for months

People living in Hampton's Langley Square Apartments are having a hard time with the heat.

HAMPTON, Va. (WVEC) -- People living in Hampton's Langley Square Apartments are having a hard time with the heat.

Residents contacted 13News Now and said their air conditioning is not working, and nothing is being done to fix it. Several tenants said their AC hasn’t worked for months, and now is when they need it the most.

Cherre Robinson said there are several issues at the complex, but the main one she's hot about is the AC.

“They said they need to order a part for my unit, and I have been waiting for two months,” Robinson said. “All they do is give us the small window fans.”

According to Capital Realty, the company that owns Langley Square Apartments, there are 254 units on the property. There are currently nine or 10 AC units still down.

Forty units received regular preventative maintenance and time ups in the last several weeks.

There are three licensed contractors on the property daily to work on work orders, and everything is troubleshooting right away.

All the tenants who have issues with their AC received temporary air conditioning.

Just two days ago, several families at Aqua Vista apartments in Newport News voiced their frustration after they say they haven't had air conditioning in almost a year.

Management there is now promising to repair more than two dozen units after Code Compliance got involved.
