WEEMS, Va. — The bodies of two men who vanished while boating earlier this week have been recovered, a spokesperson for the Virginia Marine Resources Commission said.

59-year-old Mark Ringenberg and 59-year-old Stephen Perkins were last seen leaving on a boat from Weems on Sunday morning. That's about 45 minutes north of Gloucester.

The boat was later found washed ashore near Mosquito Point, on the Rappahannock River. The keys were in the ignition, shoes were on the deck, and cold drinks were in the cooler, but the two boaters were nowhere to be found.

The U.S. Coast Guard, VMRS, and local agencies began a search for the men along the Rappahannock on Sunday, but the search was suspended Monday night.

Their bodies were found and recovered Thursday morning near Mosquito Point, not far from where their boat washed ashore.
