Local comic book shop owner remembers Stan Lee

A local comic book store owner is just one of many people who is mourning Stan Lee's death.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) — The owner of Trilogy Comics is one of many who mourned Stan Lee's death.

Gerald Hogan said Lee's death was very significant for him because he's always loved Marvel. If you step in his shop, you'll see, from top to bottom, he has lots of Marvel items.

He even has a poster signed by Stan Lee.

"This is like one of my prized pieces that I picked up at an auction years ago," said Hogan.

Hogan recalls as a kid, being a big Spider-Man fan, which is why Lee's death was hard for him.

"I was just awestruck. I couldn't believe. He's been part of the industry for as long as I've been around," he said. "I've had calls, emails, texts from virtually everybody I know."

Now everybody he knows will probably hold onto their collections a lot tighter as he tries to rebuild his.

"It's going to be a lot harder to find some of the early Spider-Man's that I could've easily found yesterday," he said. "For the comic industry, he's the number one, most recognized face."
