CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Kindergarten students at Primrose School in Chesapeake had a special Valentine's Day celebration with residents at Lighthouse Pointe Retirement Community.
The young students spent the day decorating cookies with the retirement residents, Primrose School co-owner Tonya Gill said in a news release.
The kindergartners also kept the seniors company with lively conversation.
The school adopted the Lighthouse retirement home as part of its Adopt-a-Grandparents program.
The program aims to connect young students with seniors in the community.
The student visit around 3-4 times during the year. They've visited for past events including for Christmas sing-a-longs and reading.
"We love our seniors and also have events throughout the year for our children’s grandparents," Gill said.
