CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Investigators are working to determine the cause of a fire that tore through a home in Chesapeake on Friday.

Crews were sent to a home in the 1300 block of Sanderson Road after 1 p.m. where they found the home fully engulfed in flames.

By the time they got there, one of the residents had just fled the home. No one else was inside, but search crews and a neighbor rescued two dogs.

Virginia Beach firefighters joined Chesapeake crews to help put out the blaze.

It took more than an hour for crews to fully contain the fire, but it was declared under control shortly before 2:30 p.m. Four adults and one child were displaced as a result.
