Stabbing on Cherrytree Lane, Chesapeake

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Police said Wednesday afternoon that the person accused of stabbing a man several times in the morning was in custody after he turned himself in.

Officers said the charge against Jaden Campbell, 20, Aggravated Malicious Wounding.

Emergency dispatchers received a call about the incident in the 1200 block of Cherrytree Ln. around 5:30 a.m. Officers who went there found a man who appeared to have been stabbed several times. They later said he was leaving for work when he was attacked in front of his home.

Medics took him to the hospital.

"It's concerning," said Jeremy Rodden, a neighbor, who was getting his youngest child on the school bus about an hour after dispatchers received the call.

"Not much happens here, said Rodden. "So, when we have something like this kind of break that quiet, it's pretty unsettling."

Neighbors said the family that lives at the home where the stabbing took place moved in about six months ago. Rodden stopped by the house to see how he could help.

"You saw a bunch of my other neighbors coming out here and that's where our concern was," Rodden said. "You got 10 cop cars out here and something's wrong and that's our first instinct is to say how can we help? What can we do to make sure it doesn't get worse?"
