HAMPTON, Va. (WVEC) -- Two female teenagers are facing charges for allegedly assaulting police officers.

On November 19, Hampton Police received a call for a reported runaway. When officers arrived in the 600 block of Hannah Street, they were able to locate and make contact with the runaway.

Officers say they were attempting to escort the runaway teen to her mother's car when she struck both of them in the face.

As this was happening, police say another female teen, who was with the runaway, exited a nearby car and struck one of the officers in the back of the head.

Officers gained control of the suspects and took them into custody.

The 15-year-old and 12-year-old females were charged with assault on a law enforcement officer.
