HAMPTON, Va. (WVEC) -- A local Cracker Barrel is under investigation for segregating employees.
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission received a complaint from an employee at the Hampton location.
Anthony Burrell claims in April of 2015, the general manager put all African-American cooks on the busy side of the cook line, and whites on the other. He goes on to say white employees with less experience were promoted and paid more than African-American workers.
In August, Burrell says he was fired for opposing the practices.
Mediation is now underway between the EEOC and the Cracker Barrel restaurant. If no agreement is reached, it could lead to litigation.
