Group of armed men rob Newport News man; two arrested

A Newport News man was outside his truck early Tuesday morning when a group of armed men approached and robbed him, police said.
A Newport News man was outside his truck Tuesday morning when a group of armed men approached and robbed him, police said. Kenna Winbush Jr., left, and Deddrick Robinson were charged with robbery and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

Two men were arrested and are accused of robbing a man at gunpoint in Newport News early Tuesday morning, police said.

Around 3:51 a.m., a 28-year-old Newport News man told police that he was robbed at gunpoint at a residence in the 600 block of 12th Street. The man said the robbery took place around 2:30 a.m. as he was out in his work truck in front of his residence.

The man told police he was outside when five to six men with firearms approached.

The men took an undisclosed amount of money and fled.

The man was not injured.

Later that day, the man said he saw two men involved in the robbery. Officers were able to take the two men into custody.

Kenna Winbush Jr., 22, of the 2000 block of North Roger Peed Drive in Hampton was charged with robbery, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and conspiracy. Winbush also had previous warrants for damaged property and stalking.

Deddrick Robinson, 21, of the 600 block of 12th Street in Newport News, was charged with robbery and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

Police are still investigating the incident.
