NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Virginia State Police is investigating a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 64 east in Newport News.

The crash occurred around 8:20 a.m. near Lee Hall, PIO Sgt. Michelle Anaya said.

A tractor trailer was driving in the center lane when its driver hit metal debris in the road. The front tire blew out causing it to run off the road.

A Hyundai SUV driving next to the tractor trailer also drove off the road and hit a guard rail head-on. The woman driving the SUV was not injured.

The tractor trailer's driver was able to drive it into a grass median and avoid a collision.

There are delays in the westbound lanes of I-64 near Fort Eustis Boulevard, Anaya said.

No one was injured at the time of the incident, she said.

The Newport News Fire Department is cleaning up the diesel fuel spill.

The driver will not be charged.
