Family of murdered boy speaks after accused killer charged

The medical examiner said the boy died from blunt force trauma and recorded 80 to 90 bruises to his head and body.

NORFOLK, Va. — At just four-years-old, Larkin Carr was killed.

The medical examiner said the boy died from blunt force trauma and recorded 80 to 90 bruises to his head and body.

"He didn't even really have a life," said Becky Gearhart about Carr dying at a young age.

Gearhart is Carr's aunt. She said she's still very upset over the boy's death.

"Still to this day, when I think about that little boy and how everything went, when I see something on Facebook or something, I still cry about it," she said.

Catherine Seals, who was dating Carr's father, was charged with murder.

Investigators said Seals left Carr in the care of her 14-year-old son. He's accused of killing Carr and is also facing murder charges.

"I hope they stay in there for the rest of their lives because that's an innocent little boy who didn't get to see Christmas, Thanksgiving with their daddy. It's hard. It's really hard," Gearhart told 13News Now.

Gearhart said the family, although still hurt, feels a small sense of relief now that Seals and her son have been charged.

"I kept saying I hope they charge somebody with the murder of the boy," said Gearhart.

Hopefully, this will jumpstart the healing process for their family.

"We just keep on going. That's the only thing we can do and wish for the best," she said.

Seals is still in the Norfolk jail with no bond. She is also charged with child abuse and neglect.
