PrideFest also included headliners JoJo and Crystal Waters.

There were two tables — PLAG Hampton Roads and Free Mom Hugs Virginia — giving out free 'mom hugs.'

Melissa Baumann was giving out hugs as promised at the PFLAG table and said it was a great experience.

Shirley Carley, chapter leader for Free Mom Hugs Virginia, said the organization's main goal is to give hugs.

"Quite often we have people whose families have thrown them out because of being LGBT," she said.

"So we get to love them as people and tell them just how special and precious they are — that's what we do, we love people."
