HRT to extend services on New Year's Eve

Hampton Roads Transit is extending its service hours on New Year's Eve.

Need a safe way to get home after celebrating the New Year? Hampton Roads Transit has you covered.

HRT, the Tide light rail, and the Elizabeth River Ferry service will be open until 2 a.m. on New Year's Eve! It's a safe way for people participating in local events to get home safely.

Rail service will run every 30-minutes starting at 9 p.m. Light rail trains have numerous stops in downtown Norfolk. The last train will leave MacArthur Square for Newtown Road at about 1:30 a.m. Normally, service stops at 11 p.m. on weekdays.

The Elizabeth River Ferry's last boat will be leaving Waterside will be 1:45 a.m. and the Ferry service will operate every 30 minutes.

During the day on January 1, HRT will have buses and light rail operating on a Sunday schedule. The ferry will operate on a regular schedule.
