NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Lamontraye McAdams will serve five years for shooting and killing his girlfriend, Nateria "Nae" Powell, in May 2017.
Powell was a senior at Maury High School at the time of her death.
McAdams entered a guilty plea to Involuntary Manslaughter in February.
A judge sentenced him to 10 years Friday, but suspended five of those years. The breakdown of the sentence is as follows:
- Involuntary Manslaughter: 8 years, 5 suspended conditioned on 10 years good behavior, 3 years supervised probation
- Reckless Handling of a Firearm Resulting in Death: 1 year 6 months
- Obstruction: 6 months
