Warrant issued for burglar bitten by dog, led police search through Norfolk

Norfolk police officers said Michael Lacey broke into a home where a dog bit him during the burglary. He ran off from an ambulance in Ghent.

Norfolk police officers were up and down Colley Avenue Monday afternoon after an accused burglar escaped.

Officers said they were looking of Michael Lacey. They said a homeowner's dog bit Lacey during a burglary. 

He was on his way to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment when he ran from the ambulance near Redgate and Colley avenues in Ghent.

Officers said Lacey was wearing a blue shirt and blue shorts. He had a bandage on his left leg. 

Police said Lacey was spotted near the 800 block of A Avenue, but police didn't find him there.

Around 7 p.m. Monday police have stopped looking for him, but there is an active warrant out for his arrest.

The police are asking anyone who knows his whereabouts to contact the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
