State police identify driver killed after pickup truck crashes in Norfolk

Robert John Scott, 59, of Jacksonville, Florida, was killed in the single-vehicle wreck, Sgt. Michelle Anaya said.

NORFOLK, Va. — Virginia State Police identified the man killed in a crash that happened early Friday morning in Norfolk.

Robert John Scott, 59, of Jacksonville, Florida, was killed in the single-vehicle wreck, Sgt. Michelle Anaya said.

The incident happened around 5:03 a.m. westbound of Interstate 264 at Brambleton Avenue.

Scott was driving a 2010 Ford F-150 westbound on I-264 when he lost control.

He sideswiped the jersey wall and overcorrected. The truck crossed traffic lanes and hit a guard rail on the right shoulder.

Scott was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Anaya said alcohol was not a factor in the crash. He was wearing his seatbelt.
