NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- A title loan business is taking the City of Norfolk to court.
LoanMax filed a lawsuit challenging City Council's rejection to reopen a shop destroyed in a fire last year. They say they never got a fair chance to present their case.
Council has long expressed dislike of title loan businesses. According to our partners at the Virginian Pilot, Councilwoman Angelia Williams Graves went so far as to call the industry "legal loan sharking."
The lawsuit alleges council's vote was based on their dislike for the industry as a whole.
