NORFOLK, Va. — A man has died as a result of a crash in Park Place, Norfolk Police said.

Norfolk Police said the accident involved a moped and a tow truck at the corner of 27th Street and Colley Avenue on Friday afternoon.

The driver of the moped - a 64-year-old man - was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, but died shortly after his arrival there.

A police spokesperson said the man’s name will be released once his family has been notified.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and no other injuries were reported.

Alcohol and speed do not appear to be contributing factors in the crash, according to police.

The traffic fatality team is still investigating, and according to the spokesperson, once it's been completed, the findings will be turned over to the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office for review and determination of charges.
