PORTSMOUTH, Va. — A man is dead after a shooting in Portsmouth on Saturday night.
Police said around 10:13 p.m., an officer in the area of Court and High streets heard gunshots.
The officer saw several people running from a building near the 500 block of Court Street.
The officer found a man with a gunshot wound to his torso. The officer called for medical assistance.
Medics arrived but the man died at the scene.
The victim is identified as Cairee D. Thomas, 19, of Portsmouth.
The shooting is still being investigated.
