PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WVEC) -- An 18-year-old inmate died at the Hampton Roads Regional Jail Tuesday morning.

A spokeswoman for the jail said staff members found Davageah K. Jones unconscious in his cell. The staff members began life-saving measures until Portsmouth Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived.

Jones was being held at the jail on Breaking and Entering and Possession of Marijuana charges from the City of Chesapeake.

The jail is conducting an administrative review and contacted the Portsmouth Police Department.

Earlier this year, another inmate died while receiving medical treatment at a hospital.

The jail also came under scrutiny in past years because of high-profiled deaths at the facility.
