Man shot, seriously hurt in Portsmouth shooting on High Street

Officers found a man with a gunshot wound to the torso on High Street. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Portsmouth police are investigating a third shooting in the city on Sunday night.

The call came in around 8:01 p.m. in the 2700 block of High Street.

Officers found a man with a gunshot wound to the torso.

He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Police in Portsmouth are also investigating a homicide that happened after 5 p.m. in 1000 block of Cherokee Road. 

They're still trying to determine if a shooting victim who walked into a hospital a short time later was involved.

Sgt. Misty Holley said all three incidents are separate and police are still investigating.
