Portsmouth city offices closing to the public until March 30

The public is encouraged to use the city’s online options for payments and services.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Out of an abundance of caution over the coronavirus, the City of Portsmouth announced it is closing all city facilities and offices to the public from Monday, March 16 to Monday, March 30, 2020. No in-person transactions will be conducted.

That includes the Parks, Recreation and Tourism (Recreation Centers/Senior Station), Public Libraries, Portsmouth Museums including the Children’s Museum of Virginia, Visitor Information Center, the Commissioner of the Revenue’s Office, the Voter Registrar’s Office, and the City Treasurer’s Office.

All city employees will report to work during their normal work hours. The public is encouraged to use the city’s online options for payments and services. More information can be found at www.Portsmouthva.gov and www.PortsVaEvents.com.

The City of Norfolk has also closed its city-run facilities to the public due to the coronavirus.
