School bus driver taken to hospital after bus rear-ended in Suffolk

Suffolk police said the bus was taken students from Hillpoint Elementary High School home when it happened. None of the students was hurt.

SUFFOLK, Va. — Suffolk police said that a school bus driver went to the hospital Monday afternoon after the bus and a car collided.

Someone from the Suffolk Public Schools Transportation Department contacted dispatchers about the incident shortly before 4:15 p.m. It happened in the 2800 block of Godwin Boulevard which is near Sentara Obici Hosptial.

Police said the bus was full of students from Hillpoint Elementary School when the bus was rear-ended. None of the children was hurt. Another bus came to take the students home.

Medics evaluated the bus driver at the scene before taking the bus driver to the hospital for observation.

Police issued a summons to the driver of the car for Following Too Closely.
