13News Now's Megan Shinn will be Dancing for Paws!

13News Now reporter Megan Shinn will be showing off her dance moves, off for the benefit of the Virginia Beach SPCA.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A Dancing with the Stars-style event is being held in Virginia Beach that aims to help out homeless pets.

"Dancing For Paws" will be held on June 15 at Chrysler Hall in Norfolk. Professional and celebrity dancers will show off their moves, all for the benefit of the Virginia Beach SPCA.

You may recognize a contestant: 13News Now reporter Megan Shinn. She is one of 19 contestants.

It will be a night that blends music, dancing, and animals.

Tickets are $35 and available for purchase, or anyone can purchase them in person at the VBSPCA shelter on Holland Road and at our Pet Supplies and Adoption Center in Providence Square Shopping Center.

She’s been rehearsing for months with her instructor Riccardo Pacini at 'A time to Dance’ studio, in Virginia Beach. He is a three-time Italian ballroom dancing champion.

"I was six when I started, and I'm thirty now, so it's been 24 years,” said Pacini.

This weekend's 'Dancing for Paws' competition still stands out to him because it’s for a great cause.

Last year, 13News Now reporter Chenue Her brought home the Mirrorball Trophy, and the event raised over $60,000 for the Virginia Beach SPCA!

Pacini said there’s a little friendly family competition going on too since he’s competing against his wife.

"So she will try to beat us as well,” he said jokingly.

Through all the friendly competition, the most important part is to enjoy the moment, have fun, and remember how it's helping the community.

Shinn and Pacini’s routine is sure to be a crowd pleaser.

When the curtain closes, the Virginia Beach SPCA is also hosting an After Party to continue to celebrate the cause with the stars of the show. Click here to purchase tickets.
