VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- A TIDE Swimming athlete will compete in the U.S. Olympic Team Trials.

16-year-old Callie Dickinson is the only swimming Olympic Trials qualifier in South Hampton Roads.

The trials will take place in Omaha, Nebraska, from June 26 through July 3.

Dickinson will compete against some of the top swimmers in the United States, including Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte.

She will compete in the 200-meter backstroke, 100-meter backstroke, 100-meter butterfly and 400-meter individual medley.

The meet is the sole qualifier for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro and Dickinson's first time in attendance.

The president of TIDE Swimming, Katy Arris Wilson said, "Displaying the versatility to qualify in the 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke and 400 individual medley demonstrates the fortitude she brings to practice every day, often twice a day. Few 16-year-olds are willing to make the sacrifices Callie makes to reach her goals. She should be recognized for not only this accomplishment, but also for the many years of work and sacrifice she embraced to get to this point."
