VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Firefighters battled a Virginia Beach apartment fire and saved a resident Thursday afternoon.

Crews were called to the 4600 blk of Blackfriars Court, near Sentara Therapy Center on Independence Boulevard.

In a tweet, the Virginia Beach Fire Department said they needed to use a ladder to enter the home from the 2nd story balcony. The fire behind the front door was too hot.
