VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., (WVEC) -- Green Run High School won its second consecutive NJROTC championship title in Florida, according to Virginia Beach City Public Schools news release.
The cadets also won trophies in nine categories including academics, armed exhibition, unarmed exhibition, overall athletics, overall drill, team curl-ups, team push-ups, 8-by-220-yard oval relay and 16-by-100-yard shuttle relay.
Green Run cadets earned individual honors for top 10 finishes in the following events:
Senior Aminah Jones -- 5th place in female individual curl ups
Junior Adriel Guzman -- 2nd place in male individual push-ups
Senior Alexander Navarrete -- 2nd place in academics
The unit is led by retired Navy Cmdr. Curtis Brown and retired Marine Corps 1st Sgt. Felix Robles.
The NJROTC Nationals Academic, Athletic and Drill Championship is the most comprehensive test of overall NJROTC training and performance in academic, athletic and drill challenges, according to NJROTC's competition website.
